Fort Lauderdale, FL – A progressive coworking enterprise sought an additional location in the downtown business district that could accommodate both day-to-day entrepreneurial teams and regular large-scale gatherings. Such a location was found within an abandoned, historically significant hotel that had been nearly entirely gutted and poorly adapted many times over. By introducing a “theatre” type grand stair and seating area the 3 levels of the space were visually and functionally connected through a central core. Peripheral spaces became work areas, offices and supporting amenities. For the new design the raw, industrial feel of the existing interiors was retained, enhanced and complimented while the historic exterior remained true to it’s past.
